For 5 generations and 100 years, we’ve been striving to do better today than we did yesterday. This concept doesn’t just apply to our grass, but our family of Super-Sod team members, too.
This can-do attitude of improvement must be the reason Super-Sod employees love their job enough to give us an award.
For the second consecutive year, Super-Sod was named a Top Workplace by the Atlanta Journal Constitution!

“It’s great when our company is recognized for one of our core values, taking care of our people,” said Ben Copeland Jr., Super-Sod COO.
With 5 stores and one farm in the metro-Atlanta area, Super-Sod is home to 70 people who keep Atlanta’s yards supplied with fresh layers of grass throughout the year.

The farmers plant and maintain certified sod fields, while harvesters, logistics managers, and drivers ensure sod arrives on time and stacked neatly on a pallet for easy installation.

The store staff help customers choose the best type of grass for their lawn or simply provide support for maintaining it. Managers solve turf problems with a smile and work together like a well-oiled machine.
Heading up four of the Atlanta stores is Mike Darsey, Atlanta general manager. He says, "Being recognized as a top workplace in Atlanta is a great honor. Our team is what makes our workplace and company a success, we are grateful to have such an amazing team!"
Beyond our typical core team members, we’ve welcomed specialized outside sales representatives, including Automower robotic lawn mower installation specialists who spent 2018 automating lawns for customers.

These new team members make up part of the 70 employees eligible to be surveyed in 2019 compared to the 50 in 2018. The considerable growth shows the company is expanding to meet Atlanta’s turfgrass demands.
There’s always room for celebration when it comes to all that growth – both in employees and in grass! To commemorate a successful 2018 season, Super-Sod employees in Georgia gathered to celebrate with family and coworkers at The Rock Ranch for a company picnic during September. Complete with lunch, zip lining, hay rides, and more, this event recognized the hard work of a long spring and summer.

Looking forward to future seasons, the company is implementing new training and software programs for employee benefit, as well as investing in new technologies.
"We are committed to implementing next generation technologies so we can quickly and efficiently produce the best available turfgrasses in Georgia. We are constantly evaluating and investing in new equipment that makes us more efficient and easier to operate," said Josh Morrow, general manager and leader of the Cartersville store and farm. "Working together with a common goal to bring the best available products together allows us to feel pride in what we do and make this a great place to work.
"I know that without our very talented team we could not sell, produce and deliver the excellent product we produce. Just last year we increased our operation by 50% and will continue to grow this year! We are looking for talented and hard working individuals looking for a career, not just a job."
Thank you to each employee who has invested in Super-Sod as more than just a job and granted us this award again this year. May 2019 be our best year yet!
